Passionate Scripture Memorization

I watched this video last night and it completely blew me away. This guy, Ryan Ferguson, has memorized the whole book of Hebrews, but for the Worship God 06 conference, he only recited chapters 9 & 10. I know 11 minutes is kind of long, but take a break and watch it all the way through; God’s Word will powerfully effect you.
Let this also be a challenge to us at how much and how well we memorize Scripture. This guy didn’t just memorize the verses for a quiz, but he has placed the truth within his heart.

I know it is so amazing to hear whole books of the Bible quoted. We had this one guy come to Cedarville a year or two ago and he quoted Hebrews and Revelation to us in two different chapel sessions. It is a different guy than in that clip because the guy who quoted to us was older (about mid 50s) and had white hair and a long white beard. It totally blew me away when I heard him. The whole time he spoke I felt at complete peace about everything going on in life. It is amazing how hearing the Word of God just read or quoted aloud puts one at ease. Hope you’re doing well! Study hard for finals!!!

Hebrews reads like a sermon, a good one, that is. This is proved moreover when the book is spoken aloud. I’ve even come across the supposition that the book of Hebrews is a written sermon of the early 1st century church, with Psalms 110 as its topical text.
