As this semester comes to a close, I have been hit with reality that my faith is not centered on a concept or object, but on the person of Jesus Christ. I find myself sometimes getting caught up in the performance of things more than the heart of those things. I can be more concerned with what I am doing than why I am doing them. I understand that all those things that I mentioned are good and many are necessary, but if they are centered on and around the God-Man Jesus, then they are all in vain.

I am grieved that my heart doesn’t long for a deeper, closer, more intimate relationship with Him. I fail to love Him in proportion to His infinite majesty and glory. His excellencies far outweigh the rotting, fleeting, empty pleasures that this world tries to offer me. Everything that I can see, touch, taste, and hear will pass away. All of it will end and fail. But my Lord, Savior, and Redeemer will reign eternally. If I will one day meet Him and spent the rest of all existence with Him, then my affection should burn to please Him.

O Christ, forgive my weak love and my distracted affection. Give me faith to look to You in all circumstances. May the beauty of Your holiness irresistibly captivate my heart.
